What Is the SHSAT?
The SHSAT, or Specialized High Schools Admissions Test, is the entrance exam used for admission to eight of NYC’s Specialized High Schools, including Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, Bronx Science, and The Brooklyn Latin School. The test is typically taken by students in 8th and 9th grade.
If your student is applying to an audition school like LaGuardia, they do not need to take the SHSAT. Although LaGuardia is a Specialized High School, admission is based on an audition, not the SHSAT.
How to Access Your Test
After registering and paying, families will receive a test link and access code at the email address provided. Your student’s name must be submitted to SHSAT Buddy before the link can be issued. Because this process is handled manually, please allow time for your test information to arrive.
Please check your spam folder if you don’t see the email.
Please Note
SHSAT Buddy is an independent educational service. Practice-test results are intended to help students guide their preparation. They do not guarantee an official SHSAT score or admission outcome.
Families should consult the official NYC Public Schools SHSAT information for details about the actual exam.
